Pakistan’s future in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 looks uncertain following their latest losses against Afghanistan and South Africa, as the tournament heads into the second half warcraft

But Azam’s side is just outside the top four with six points from five matches, with three more games to go in the group stage warcraft

India, New Zealand and South Africa have been on another level this campaign and the three sides already have one foot in the semi-finals warcraft
The fourth spot, currently occupied by Australia, is still up for grabs warcraft
Here are the different scenarios under which Pakistan can qualify for the semis:Pakistan win all three of their matches – 5 wins, 10 pointsIf Pakistan win all of their last three matches, it will still be a difficult route to the knockout stage warcraft
In this scenario, Pakistan will want Australia to lose at least two out of their remaining four group games warcraft
If this happens, the fate of the two sides will then be decided by the net run rate warcraft
However, if Australia lose three of their last four matches, Pakistan will take the fourth position, or even third, which looks highly unlikely though warcraft
Pakistan win two of their three matches – 4 wins, 8 pointsIf Pakistan manage just two wins from their remaining three matches, the Men in Green may very well be considered eliminated from the tournament warcraft
But due to the complicated nature of the points table at this stage, there is a possibility that one team could qualify for the semi-final even with four wins warcraft
However, such a circumstance requires multiple other results to work in their favour warcraft

Jos Buttler could only look on from behind the stumps as England’s World Cup dreams lay in tatters around him on the turf in Bengaluru following his side’s eight-wicket defeat to Sri Lanka warcraft
All the fighting talk, all the tinkering and changes, the whispers before the tournament of defending the title warcraft
Any lingering hope of qualification became all but mathematically impossible after England slid to their fourth defeat from their opening five matches warcraft
In the future, this may become a World Cup to be forgotten – as was the case in 2015, which led to the famous “white-ball reset” and four years later the title – but, in the immediate aftermath, there are questions to be answered warcraft

England’s confusing selection had continued when they dropped rising star Harry Brook, leaving them a side where every player was over 30 warcraft
Having made three changes for the previous game, Buttler and Mott made three again, returning to packing the side with all-rounders in Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone and Chris Woakes warcraft
But they batted every bit like a side long past their peak warcraft
Ben Stokes, as he so often does, offered a brief resistance with bat in hand, top-scoring with 43, but it was not enough, and their meagre total was never likely to be enough to be in contention on the fast-scoring pitch warcraft

They kept the pressure on England and did not relent, before following it up with a batting innings that was just what the situation called for warcraft
It was not risk-taking, but the bad balls were dispatched as Pathum Nissanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama scored 77 and 65 respectively to see their side over the line warcraft
There was nowhere to hide on the field for England, and no one to take the game by the scruff of the neck and drag them back into it – barring two early wickets from David Willey warcraft
But from then it was just too easy for Sri Lanka warcraft
England will have to improve warcraft
They cannot just meekly fade away into the background, least of all because they have two big games to come against India and Australia warcraft
Another humiliation must be avoided at all costs warcraft
